The mission of Ervin’s Village Family Support Services is to strengthen individuals, preserve families, and build healthier communities by providing accessible, compassionate, person-centered behavioral health and family support services rooted in dignity, relationship, advocacy, and the enduring belief that care is a shared community responsibility.
We exist to create the kind of support system our family understood generations ago—one that sees the whole person, recognizes the strength within every family, responds when people are vulnerable, and helps individuals move from surviving circumstances to building sustainable lives.
Our work is not simply about delivering services.
It is about building the conditions in which people can heal, families can function, children can thrive, and communities can become stronger.

Long before there were programs, providers, treatment plans, or community agencies, there was the Ervin Family Farm.
Founded by Arettar and Samuel Ervin in the 1920s, the farm was more than a place where crops were planted and harvested. It was a place where family was sustained, neighbors were welcomed, resources were shared, and no one’s hardship was treated as theirs to carry alone.
The land produced food.
But the family cultivated something greater:
Belonging. Responsibility. Dignity. Community.
That is where our mission begins.
For the Ervin family, farming was never simply about what could be taken from the soil. It was about what could be given back.
A harvest could feed more than one household. A table could make room for another person. Knowledge could be passed from one generation to the next. When someone was struggling, the answer was not, “Whose responsibility is this?"
The answer was:
We take care of our own. We take care of our neighbors.
That philosophy transformed the Ervin Family Farm into something larger than a family property. It became part of an informal system of care—the kind communities built for themselves long before professional systems existed.
There was no intake process for compassion.
No eligibility requirement for kindness.
No referral needed to belong.
There was simply a recognition that when one family struggled, the strength of the entire community mattered.
The Ervin family understood something that remains at the center of our work today:
People do better when they are surrounded by people who refuse to let them face life alone.
That belief traveled through generations.
It could be seen in the life of Arettar “Rett” Kinsey Ervin Isler, whose home became known as a place where people could find food, clothing, care, and acceptance. The family farm had established the principle; Rett carried it forward through service.
The message remained the same:
Love your neighbor. Take care of your community.
What began around farmland, family tables, gardens, kitchens, and front porches eventually became the foundation for something new.
In 2015, that legacy received an organizational name:
Ervin’s Village LLC
The work looks different today.
Instead of cultivating fields, we help cultivate stability.
Instead of preserving a harvest, we work to preserve families.
Instead of responding only to physical hunger, we recognize the emotional, behavioral, relational, and social needs that can leave individuals and families searching for support.
But the philosophy has never changed.
Someone caring enough to say, “You do not have to do this alone.”
Nearly a century after Arettar and Samuel Ervin established the Ervin Family Farm, the seeds they planted continue to produce something far greater than crops.
Their legacy can be found every time a child receives support.
Every time a family finds stability.
Every time someone receives care without judgment.
Every time a person discovers that their circumstances do not have to determine their future.
And every time a community chooses connection over abandonment.
The Ervin Family Farm taught us that what we possess carries a responsibility to serve something beyond ourselves.
Ervin’s Village carries that responsibility forward.
Different generation.
Different field.
Same mission.
It Takes a Village. We Are That Village.
